I like that the study seems to actively ignore the fact that actual people tend to live in one place for more than just a short period of time. They also point out that although the air wasn’t proven to be harmful, it is going to stink like an unpleasant shade of methane in the area until they stop frac’ing.

DEP Says Air Near Marcellus Drilling Sites Is Safe

Harrisburg, PA (WBNG Binghamton) The air quality in areas with heavy Marcellus Shale drilling is safe for people to breathe.

The report does say that the 4-week sampling effort is not meant to test for the cumulative impact of breathing the air in areas that have a heavy drilling presence.notes that the sampling effort was not meant to address potential cumulative impacts.

The air did show the main ingredients of natural gas such as methane, ethane, propane and butane, plus low levels of other compounds like MtBE, carbon monoxide and methyl mercaptan, the odor-producing compound.

There was also emissions found by sensitive infrared equipment that came from the drilling equipment itself at the Carter Road drilling site.
